Rectortown, Virginia

If you are seeking the suburban or even "tourist village” life, Rectortown Virginia is the place for you .The village is small and sleepy.  The postmaster knows everyone by name and your neighbors are not only known to you but so are your friends, and most of them don't even lock their doors. 

Take a moment to consider these facts: Rectortown,  is  just minutes  off I-66; a recently widened highway is a direct shot to Washington D.C. There is just one traffic light and an easy 60 minutes of Highway driving to the Kennedy Center and the rest of what our nation’s capitol Washington has to offer. 

Marshall, Virginia a real "country town" is just five miles away. There, fire engines and emergency vehicles are located.  Schools, both public and private, are located in Marshall, The Plains and the surrounding area while a huge youth sporting complex has just been opened.  There are doctors, dentists, banks, restaurants, gas-stations, shops, local grocery stores brimming with local produce and facilities of every description. A special treat is the monthly horse auction at the 'Livestock Exchange'.
Warrenton, 15 miles south, is the county seat, where all government facilities are located and of special note is the less crowded DMV where you get out in less than 30 minutes. Warrenton also brandishes a well respected and modern hospital and of course “Old Town Warrenton”,  charming yet casual, historic and very quaint.
As for proximity to those "big events" that have made this part of the country so popular, call Rectortown ground zero.  A few miles north is Historic 'Sky Meadows State Park' with over a thousand acres of reserve donated by the Mellon family. There are horseback and trail rides, biking, hiking, canoeing and fishing. On one of the trails on a clear day you can see Washington DC. It is also the location of the popular Strawberry Festival. A mile further is Paris, Virginia with its Historic and considered to be one of the best restaurants in Virginia, Ashby Inn and the world renowned Ashby Gap.

Six miles south, weekly polo matches take place at 'Great Meadow', a 250-acre field events center and steeplechase course. This is also the location of the celebrated spring and fall “Gold Cup Steeplechase Races” and the family oriented '4th of July extravaganza and fire works display.   Minutes up the road is the neighboring town of Upperville, venue of the annual Upperville Colt and Horse Show”. It is nationally renowned and the oldest sporting event in all of the United States.
